The short answer

A Lay-Z-Spa hot tub costs somewhere between £0.60 and £1.70 per day to run in average UK conditions — that's £4 to £12 per week, or £18 to £50 per month. Where you fall in that range depends almost entirely on one thing: which model you buy.

Standard inflatable Lay-Z-Spas sit at the top end. EnergySense models (integrated thermal insulation) roughly halve that. ThermaCore foam-walled models — the Toronto and Stockholm — are the cheapest of the lot, running at up to 63% less than a standard inflatable.

The efficiency figures are independently verified. ThermaCore's 63% claim is tested by TÜV Rheinland; EnergySense's efficiency is tested by SGS Laboratories. These aren't marketing numbers — they're the results of controlled lab comparisons against standard inflatables from other brands.

The rigid foam panels sit between a triple-ply outer liner and the water, creating a continuous thermal barrier that inflatable walls can't match. Combined with the insulated lid and a thermal cover, they can be up to 80% more energy efficient than a standard inflatable hot tub.

In real terms, a Toronto AirJet costs roughly the same to keep warm year-round as a typical inflatable costs in just the summer months.
